INSPIRED ORIGINS

Legend has it a forgotten god's creation came to pass. Having painted the sky, he or she proceeded to clean their brushes in the clearest river thus creating the river Celeste.

Hidden away within the Tenorio Volcano National Park, is the river Celeste. Up until 2013, the unusual blue colour of the river was thought to be a mystery. Researchers finally discovered the river had changed colour due to two rivers, Quebrada Agria and Río Buenavista converging at the “dye point” known as the Teñidero. The optical illusion occurs when large suspended particles (aluminosilicate) in the water reflect back the light. The issue was both rivers contained very small particles.

The final piece of the puzzle fell into place when scientists tested the pH of the two rivers. One neutral, and the other acidic and warmer. About the same concentration of acid as an orange and about 24 degrees in temperature. The acid and heat caused the particles to clump together, becoming large enough for the light to be reflected. The merging of these two rivers created the river Celeste and its jewel-toned water.

A divine inspiration that could not be overlooked, combining the coincidence of the universe and nature, a melange of irrefutable beauty and chance. Perfect for a Gloom Moon tee.
